Cancer took my uncle. Cancer took my father. Now cancer has come for me.

I started 5X5Cures with the hope that five billion people on earth would each donate $5, and we’d have $25 billion to invest in cancer research to find cures benefiting us all. $5. 

When people pass the fundraiser forward to everyone they love, the cures can spread like cancer itself. The time is overdue for ending the lethality of cancer, once around the planet for the well-being of us all.

5X5Cures has partnered with the world-renowned Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, which is ideally situated to move cancer research into the future. Why not here? Why not now? Twenty-five billion dollars. That’s my naive plan. Improbable, unrealistic, unlikely, far-fetched and innocent. And yet.

100% of each donation goes directly to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center for cancer research. 5X5Cures touches no money. The costs of the fundraiser infrastructure come out of my own pocket.

Cancer is simply the uncontrolled division of cells, but it’s also very complicated to conquer. It’s not one disease, but hundreds. The good news is that there is finally hope. Researchers are finally discovering the details about how cancer operates, new biotechnology tools are available, the timing for cures has never been better than right now.
